Bio

Matthew Petry is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute who creates 3D animated short films that exist as self-contained fine artworks. He has a wide range of skills within 3D animation as well as skills within the traditional arts, drawing, painting, ceramics, digital photography, 2D, 3D design, and digital experimental art.

Statement

Evident by my work, I am passionate about 3d interactive animation, non-traditional storytelling, and fostering a sense of play and curiosity. I focus on creating work that combines my background in fine arts with my newly developed mentalities as a filmmaker all while being reinforced by a long history as an improvisational stage musician. Beginning with traditional hand-drawn animation and then moving into 3d computer animation, I strive to widen my skill sets to include interactive VR animation with the hopes of reinterpreting what a video game can be.
